The large Ironbark timber posts pay homage to the natural beauty of Bendigo’s surrounding bushland, where expansive Box-Ironbark forests stand tall. The design captures the rhythmic repetition of these trees, creating a sense of harmony and connection to the landscape.
This is further complemented by the warm, earthy tones of Corten Steel, which echo the rugged elegance of the surrounding land. The interplay of colour, placement and varying heights adds a sense of playfulness and vibrancy. This dynamic combination transforms the entry statement into an engaging focal point, inviting all who encounter it to pause and experience its presence.
From every angle, the entry statement offers a unique viewing experience. Vibrant pops of colour emerge as you walk around the feature, revealing new perspectives at every turn. Over time, you will see the Corten Steel used on the Harlowe sign will naturally weather, developing a rich orange patina that enhances its striking appearance.
As part of the entry statement installation, the team have planted 140 native shrubs. These plants were carefully selected for their appealing forms and their resilience to Bendigo’s warm, dry summers. Their light colours soften the structural elements and will continue to enhance the entry as they grow and mature in the years to come.
The completion of the entry statement is just the beginning. As Harlowe continues to take shape and construction continues to progress in Stage 8, we are excited to deliver much-needed land supply to the local community.
